Sifted Cacao: The power to bring families together

In our first blog post ever, I'm choosing to focus on how our organic cacao infusion...

Is. For. Families.

Kids love treats, and we love sharing healthy options with those around us to inspire a healthier way of living for the entire family! Why not make this summer different than before? No sugar highs. No emotional crashes after they've eaten way too much processed food. Instead, try a Sifted cacao smoothie full of GOODNESS.

Banana, nut milk, coconut whip cream, and unsweetened cacao nibs are just the beginning of this tasty treat. You can feel good about feeding it to them - it's naturally caffeine free and full of antioxidants!

I love that this product can make kids smile - and come back for more! What better feeling is there than knowing you're fueling their little bodies with good things, nutritious things?!

Have they been begging you for milkshakes, ice cream, or just something cool and delicious? And how can you say no to those smiling sun-kissed faces? You need a feel-good recipe that as a caring parent you can be proud to serve to your squad of little humans. They're counting on us to fuel their bodies with GOOD things. They're counting on us to change the status quo, you guys. We've got you covered!!!! Sign up now on our page to be one of the first to get your hands on a bag of Sifted Cacao Tea. By signing up you can also look forward to samples and awesome giveaways in the next couple weeks as we launch!! xoxox

Makes 2-3 mason jars of Cacao "Banana No-Milk-Shake"

1-2 cups chilled concentrate brewed Sifted Tea (see note below)
1 frozen banana (make sure they're frozen prior, I take the peel off and store them in a bag in the freezer)
1/2-1 cup ice cubes (these ratios depend on how thick you want your smoothie!)
1/2 cup almond milk, or other dairy-free milk (for whole milk if your kiddos aren't dairy sensitive, always opt for local)
pinch of sea salt
optional sweetener: 2-3 tbsp maple syrup, agave, or other liquid sweetener.

-organic chocolate syrup (such as Santa Cruz Organic Chocolate Syrup --which we used at the West Seattle Launch Party -- or Wildly Organic Chocolate Syrup
OR, my favorite option, make your own! Suggested method: mix in a saucepan over low heat 1/2 cup coconut milk, 2 tbsp pure maple syrup, 1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder. )
-SoDelicious CocoWhip (or homemade whip cream. I like CocoWhip because it's dairy-free but without crazy amounts of sugar or additives)
-organic unsweetened cacao nibs (added crunch, but it's not chocolate chips! Be sure to look for raw unsweetened cacao nibs, often times they're coated in sweetened chocolate)

Blend the Cacao Milkshake ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor until smooth. Add sweetener if you think your kiddos won't drink it without, but the banana does add natural sweetness. You could omit banana and add in the liquid sweetener for a new flavor profile.

Prepare your mason jars by drizzling a bit of the organic chocolate syrup on the inside of the jar. Fill with the Cacao Milkshake, and top with CocoWhip and cacao nibs.

To steep Sifted Tea concentrate:
Use a french press, or other steeping tool for loose-leaf tea. Use of a ratio of about 1 tbsp to 2 cup water. Steep with hot water, and let sit for minimum 6 hours. (I leave mine overnight!) The flavor won't burn, and the husks only soften with time, releasing more cacao butter and nutrients into the concentrate. Once cooled, you can place the tea concentrate in the fridge to chill. Will keep in the fridge for up to a week! *white flecks and settling is normal - this is the natural cocoa butter - healthy fats, so wonderful for you!

Don't toss those steeped husks - you can put them in your own smoothie! (the kiddos may or may not like them, so I set aside for my own chocolate-inspired protein shake. We all need treats, you know!). You can make the concentrate more or less strong, to your own liking. There's nothing magical about the ratio - it's whatever you want to taste, and how strong that chocolate flavor should be for the munchkins to want to drink it! :)

Enjoy!! Perfect for a hot summer day, and you don't need to worry about a sugar crash or mood swings from the littles later on in the day with this tasty treat!

much love,

- Sonia (owner)
