Iced Cacao Summer Spice


Our partners at West Seattle Grounds came up with this amazing recipe that has easily become a hit! If you find yourself strollling West Seattle during this quiet summer, stop by their coffee shop to try an Iced Cacao Summer Spice. It is creative, delicious and invigorating!

If you want to make some at home, it's easy. Here's the recipe they kindly shared with us!

MAKE YOUR SPICE:

Mix the spices below and store in a jar. This is suggest for two servings, adjust the ratios to fit your spice palette:

1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp clove

THEN BREW YOUR TEA:

Brew cacao tea to desired strength. Use boiling water and pour directly over the loose leaf tea. Our favorite method is a french press because it gives the husks space to move around and release healthy oils!

Allow to cool before refrigerating. Some choose to pour it directly over ice, or you can let it steep to a strong, more bitter flavor at 4-6 hours before straining. 

*can store chilled concentrate in the fridge for up to 6 days (a white milky layer is the cacao butter!)

THEN MIX YOUR SPICY DRINK:

Stir (or shake!) the tea with ice, 1/2 the spice mixture listed above, and 1 tsp honey. Stir, and add up to 1/4 cup oat milk or other non-dairy milk.
